Electronic Prescriptions

If you get regular prescriptions, the Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) may be able to save you time by avoiding unnecessary trips to your GP.

EPS makes it possible for your prescriptions to be sent electronically to the pharmacy or dispenser of your choice.  Choosing a pharmacy or dispensing appliance contractor to process your EPS prescription is called nomination.

This means you’ll no longer have to collect a paper repeat prescription from your GP Practice – instead, you can go straight to the nominated pharmacy or dispensing appliance contractor to pick up your medicines or medical appliances.

NHS POD (Prescription Ordering Direct)

To order your repeat prescription, please call the surgery on 0121 203 5050 and select option 4 between 9am to 4pm Monday to Friday. Your call will be answered by trained call handlers. Patient informs call handler what items are required and the repeat medication list is discussed item by item. Interventions are made to ensure that the patient is receiving their medication in a timely manner, when it is needed and that they haven’t already got surplus stocks at home.

A request is then sent electronically to the Practice and your nominated pharmacy will receive the prescription within 2 working days (we aim to complete this process as soon as possible but please allow up to 2 working days before contacting your pharmacy for collection or deliver).

If your pharmacy has not received your request after 2 days then there maybe a reason the prescription request was not authorised. We aim to contact patients when this happens but at peak times this is not always possible; please contact the surgery selecting option 1 for any queries and our staff will be able to help you.
